The Charis Gallery Exhibit, "The Soul of America: 250 Years," has closed, but we leave you with the announcement of our People's Choice Award winner. This is artist Diana Clement and her lovely painting, "Wildflower Spirit," which won the hearts of those who saw the exhibit in person. Heartiest congratulations to Diana! Sunday, July 26, is your last opportunity to see the Charis Gallery exhibit, “The Soul of America: 250 Years.” We leave you with this lovely, happy painting by artist Barbara Cook, “Sailing the Ocean Blue.” If you’ve seen the show, we know you’re happy you did. This watercolor entitled “Where the Pastures Once Were” by artist Daniel Stegos, brings back memories of his grandfather’s farm which was next to this cow pasture. In our country’s 250 years, can you just imagine all the memory snippets of simpler times – fresh air, rolling hills, clothes on the line, the sound of cranking homemade ice cream, old radio shows.... There are still plenty of good times to enjoy. As they happen, tuck them into your memories so you may revisit them time and again!

As of tomorrow, you have just one more week to enjoy all of the beautiful art pieces that are on display in the Charis Gallery. This exhibit, “The Soul of America: 250 Years,” has some works that depict enjoyment of life, and others are a nod to hardships that the people before us experienced. In her pastel painting, “On the Other Side,” Marilyn Kleinhans has reminded us that pioneers who made their way from east to west in covered wagons many times faced terrain they could not pass, and they’d have to backtrack to find another way.
