🏆 SHE ROCKS AWARDS 2027 NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN!

Each year, one of the questions I’m asked most is: How do you decide who gets honored at the She Rocks Awards?

The short answer is: very carefully.

The longer answer is that it’s a thoughtful, collaborative process that reflects everything we believe in at the Women’s International Music Network.

To date, we have honored nearly 180 women whose contributions have helped move the music industry forward in meaningful ways. As we look toward our 15th anniversary in 2027, that mission feels more important than ever.

There are still so many stories to tell. So many voices to elevate. So many women doing extraordinary work across every corner of this industry. And we are committed to continuing to find them, listen to them, and celebrate them.

- - - NOMINATE NOW! - - -

If you know someone who is making an impact in music, whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in their community, we want to hear about them.

Because the future of this industry is shaped by the people in it. And recognizing those voices is how we move it forward.

- Back in May of 1945 during the end of World War II, nearly 100,000 people filled the intersections in Chicago’s central business district for a war bond rally. Former prisoners of war (POW) appeared on stage, and the famed flag-raisers of Iwo Jima pushed war bonds to finance the war in the Pacific as a 28-member military band played patriotic music – the women of the 404th Armed Service Forces (ASF) band. They were only all-black female band in U.S. military history. It was the female musicians who helped raise millions in war bonds. Yet, despite accomplishing this, these women were still deemed less than worthy due to continuing sexism in the military and work place. But, for the women of the 404th ASF, they battled sexism and extreme racial segregation. Even though the Army Nurse Corps had existed as a uniformed military “organization” since 1901, the military denied women equal pay, rank or benefits. Read the full article here:
