We hurt for our friends at the original theme park podcast, CoasterRadio.com. EB…I can’t imagine, nor can I even demonstrate true understanding of the devastation you and your family have endured. Having three sons of my own, my oldest almost the same age…all I can say is, my heart, thoughts and every prayer is with you and your loved ones. So sorry for your loss. Please know, that all of us at the Season Pass Podcast are thinking of you and hoping the very best for you and your family, as well as the entire Coaster Radio family who also lost a loved one. Over 15 years, and not a lot of communication the past few years, but this theme park podcast community is still a brotherhood…and you have our condolences. -Doug Barnes

It's with a heavy heart that we share with you some terrible news. This past Friday EB's son Mark was tragically killed in a car accident. His death was innocent, instantaneous, and has brought great pain to everyone who knew his wry smile, brilliant mind and huge heart.

Mark was a part of this podcast - his birthday was the same week the podcast premiered almost seventeen years ago. Long-time listeners have heard Mark grow up as EB shared stories of his visits to the parks and Mark appeared on several episodes recorded on-location. Many of you who attended our Meet-Up events met Mark. Some of you rode roller coasters with him or saw your own kids enjoy his company as they spent those happy times together.

EB and his family have an overwhelming community that has enveloped them in love and support. That includes all of you, so thank you in advance.

There's a memorial page that's been created. All are welcome to visit and contribute their thoughts or memories if you desire.

I've been watching the parks start to announce re-openings, and as eager as I am for that to happen I've been a little worried about how some of them are going about it - especially many smaller ones. I was thinking about writing a post, then Park Journey said it for me. 😶

We will see more safety functions and regulations once theme parks reopen after COVID-19. But should the responsibility be shared by operators and guests?
