Tragically
We lost our friend, our brother, a member of the Dv8 family! Chris Cary came to Dv8 as an apprentice 14yrs ago or so and was surrounded by some really great men and great tattoo artist most of whom own and operate great shops locally now. Chris had a second run with us at Dv8 and made close connections with a younger group of artists and shared his experience knowledge and his great cooking skills he loved to make us all food. He had his struggles as many of us have had but he always remained positive, funny and passionate about life and art. I’m getting old in this industry and have been honored to spend some amazing time with young, talented, driven people often making the decision to give them a shot at this industry or not and taking on the responsibility to make sure they know how to do it right and do it well. I watch these young men and women build their careers and life’s by creating everything with their hands and hearts. I watch them grow up and Chris was at the point where he was reaching out to a lot of the men that were at Dv8 when he was apprenticing and wanting to get back in with one of us as I believe he believed that we were going to be the ones who could guide him to find his own legacy in his career. I know he thought of all of his past and present coworkers as family and we will miss him rest in peace Chris!! We will be asking all in this industry that were touched and connected to Chris to participate in some type of fund raiser to help his father with funds for celebration of life when he is ready to think about all of this. Right now I’m just wanting to rally all of you men and woman who run shops that worked with Chris over the years at your shops at conventions etc to send one of ours off with a show of support.
