AUDITION NOTICE
A Christmas Carol
Theatre on the Road is seeking actors and singers for its 25th annual dinner theater version of A Christmas Carol. Actors will be paid a stipend for each performance; they must be non-union.
There will be 15 performances in December at a variety of venues in the Hudson Valley including the Beekman Arms, Mohonk Mountain House, the Best Western, Hudson House Distillery, Curry Estate, Buttermilk Falls, the Eldred Preserve, Historic Hotel Broadalbin and Diamond Mills.
A Christmas Carol is performed both in-the-round during dinner and on a traditional stage. Rehearsals will be scheduled in November at Studio KTM in Red Hook, NY.
Except for Scrooge actors play multiple roles. One actor plays Marley and all three ghosts. One male actor plays Caroler, Bob Cratchit and Ebenezer at age 28. One male actor plays Caroler, Nephew Fred, Ebenezer at 18 and Old Joe. One female actor plays Caroler, Woman of Goodwill, Belle and Mrs. Dilber and one female actor plays Caroler, Mrs. Cratchit and Fan. The actor playing Tiny Tim will double as Ebenezer at age 8.
The scenes are lightly scripted and there are opportunities for the characters to interact with the audience.
The actors who play Bob Cratchit, Mrs. Cratchit, Women of Goodwill/Belinda and Nephew Fred will double as carolers between scenes. They must have strong singing abilities and learn to sing carols in SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass). All carols will be sung a ca****la; singers should have a good ear for tight harmony singing. Singers should be able to sing in tune and have the ability to blend.
