A lot of families we serve live on one side of the river and relax on the other. Here is the part that surprises people: your cabin is not simply your house with a different address. Insurance companies look at how a property is actually used.
Is it empty for weeks at a time?
Does the family use it when you are not there?
Is there a dock, a boat, a fire pit, a four-wheeler?
How far is the nearest fire station?
Each of those changes the policy you need. A place written as if someone lives there year-round may not respond the way you expect when it sits quiet in November.
We are licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, so we can review both properties together rather than one at a time.
