A lot has happened from Sunday to Sunday, and for those that know.. well, you know.

We all wrapped up Central Kansas Youth Rodeo Association Finals a week ago today.

Kall picked up a handful of prizes, but more importantly got some season long issues worked out in her barrel runs. Not to mention she went LEFT for the first time on a clock!

I ended the season tied for the reserve spot on rough stock and managed to win my first ever Champion Roping buckle. It meant a lot that Uncle Skip was there to see me get that one..

Before he came over to help load all the stock the morning we left for Kentucky, we traded buckles at dinner. I’ve been wearing the same old buckle for a while now, and my dad is the only person that has hung my buckles on my belts, so I made my him put a new one on mine before he left..

Sometimes, it’s not about the ones you win. It’s about the ones that got you there.

The pen of stock is tougher than anticipated here at the Youth Bull Riders World Finals at the Taylor Telecom Arena in Abilene, Texas, so I am undeniably blessed to be short round bound this morning after punching my ticket in the third round yesterday!

My re-ride in the second round got me down right about the whistle and planted both of his hind feet in my more tender place (that I now know just how tender), but I scraped enough points together to be sitting in the dark horse seat.

I’m still a little sore between the knees this morning, but I’m ready to get to work like yesterday.

We get to pick our stock in the short-go, and I made the business decision to draw as deep as I can to put me as close to the top as I can go.

Unfortunately, the Lord called two of my big supporters home a little earlier than they were expected.. It’s been a tough week and a half for some of my family, but despite it all; I am here because of them.

We are all grateful that Gramps (Don) & Granny (Aggie) Metzen are getting to spend an eternity of peace together after already achieving 60 years married here on Earth.. Even in their absence, they still manage to inspire us.

This finals has really all been for them.. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them, and the others like them..
