The Centurion The Musical

The Centurion The Musical A WORLD PREMIER PRAISE & WORSHIP MUSICAL
AT THE LIVING WATERS THEATRE IN STRASBURG
(LANCASTER COUNTY)

So sad to share news of the passing of Jon Rider tonite, our genius and incredible Publicus! I got to visit with Jon, Kristin and Bonnie (his motherinlove) in June 2024 as his cancer had progressed to critical phase (with a brief summer reprieve) and we had such an incredible time of fellowship and prayer. Jon truly embraced the admonition "to live is Christ, to die is gain" and was an incredible inspiration of faith. I will miss our chats, his unwavering faith filled pleadings, and hearing more of his adventures and journey here with Kristin, but he has arrived in heaven on time for Kings Day and is visiting with the very wisemen and fellow mensa members he belongs with! We will miss you here Jon but see you soon our brother.

Its been 10 years since my journey to write and produce a new musical based on the Centurion of Acts began and led to Lancaster. In His providence GOD called me out to do this when I was young enough, strong enough and willing to just GO! I look back on the miracles that took place and the depth of this little project, how life changing it was! And I truly miss the wonder of it all. In many ways, so far those were my best days, my greatest gifts given. I have a new play in mind, based on a Bible story too and of course I am falling in love with it. So I hope to write it faster than 7 years this time and to do it with the same intention. To tell a fascinating story that connects us to God's plan for the lives of oh too fragile men'-His beloved. In the meantime, blessings and peace. Let nothing you dismay!

8 years later, early 2020--the world upside down with "plague" spreading fast and sweeping the nations into confusion...the message of The Centurion rings very true: that God is on his throne and moves in the lives of men. As we journey as his people, a royal priesthood, through this most recent crisis, my hope is that you know HIM as Master & Commander. When I wrote this story, I originally hoped to shed some light on what true faith means today and what it meant to the original first century church, in a way anyone could listen to...BUT as the script took shape and was inspired more deeply by prayer and his Word, I realized GOD also had a message for his CHURCH today--that we would be called upon to rise up and stand IN CHIRST ALONE--the centerpiece of the play and original FIRST SONG THAT STARTED THE WHOLE SHABANG...remember then my dear friends, no scheme of Hell or man can pluck you from HIS hand. May GOD bless you now and always and make you the light and salt of the world. Love one another. Care for others. Please continue to write me at [email protected]! someday we still hope to continue the work HE started in this little project. THANKS. BE SAFE. WASH YOUR HANDS!

It's been 7 years since we all convened in beloved Lancaster County to try out The Centurion The Musical. What a labor of love! Over the years I have hoped and thought we would revive this show one day when funds available and the Spirit moves it. Meanwhile, our terrific cast and crew has gone on to great successes in their respective careers here, there, and yon. Leading man Donald Braswell returned to Texas where he continues to teach voice and sing. I went back to my profession in banking and started a small hotel company to raise funds, still based in seacoast new england....may GOD bless you all and may we meet again with glorious purpose. I can be reached at [email protected].

Its been 5 years since we debuted The Centurion The Musical. This time 5 years ago we started casting! Folks still look us up a lot and we are so grateful for the continued interest in this play, entrusted to us to produce. The marvelous group of such talented actors and crew have gone on with careers and artistic endeavors. Someday we hope to revive this piece and dream of a roadshow. We'd need about $500,000 to do that, a bit more than a crowd funding could provide, but if you are interested on funding, Find me! [email protected]. Meanwhile GOD bless y'all real good. Jan 2017.

For those of you newly looking us up--it is 2016 as I write this and the impact of this amazing experience is still ricocheting in our own and in other people's lives! While we have not produced the Centurion The Musical again since the incredible and well received debut in 2012, or taken it on the road, as we would so love to do, we think of it all the time and our cast and crew has stayed in touch with one another as they carry on and forward in their lives. I leave this site up, the script is ready, and we await the hand of the LORD in directing next steps. If anyone wishes to get in touch with me, I can be reached directly at [email protected]. If anyone wants to back a new production, by all means PRAY about it and contact me! Blessings and until we meet, may you find the strength you are seeking to be centered in HIM. Debbie Orloff

It has been 4 years since our debut of The Centurion The Musical. While we had hoped this play might go further than its opening two week run, which astonished us all, it will take a great deal of financial backing to do so. I would love someday to see that happen but for now please know that this play changed lives- our own and we hope some of the 4,000 who came to see it. I can be reached directly at [email protected] if you want to find me to discuss! Blessings and thanks!

I could not end this year without a GREAT BIG shout out of LOVE, THANKS, and New year BLESSINGS to the people who made The Centurion a Reality this year. To all of you and to GOD for his unspeakable gifts, thanks, praise to HIM, and may the new year richly reward you. May you have lots of offers, easy auditions, people begging you to be in new shows; may your friends surround you, all family strife cease, may you be in better health than ever, thinner and much more attractive than you thought possible, may your headshots stop passersby, may your voice be always rich and full and in high demand, may the love of your life appear with flowers and accolades, may you realize that before you were born you were known and LOVED by one able to do all things exceedingly abundantly. GOD BLESS YOU cast and crew!!

12/26/2012

I want to thank all of you cast and crew for pouring your hearts and souls into the making of The Centurion The Musical and letting go so GOD could take over. Your work in this place was astonishing and remarkable and so gifted! People's lives were changed because of YOU! Never for get how much you are worth to a heavenly father who LOVES you and gives you abundant life. I heard a cast member say recently, 'I never was part of a group in theatre where people sincerely cared more about each other than selves' and in consequence would never forget the experience. My prayer for you this Christmas is that GOD will richly bless you with his grace and power, his mercy and direction in your life--that you can feel daily his HOLY SPIRIT pour through you like it did and can. Thank you and GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN (and ladies!)
