Abby has lived alone in the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility for many years. She is a brittle, collected woman who enjoys her privacy. Through sheer determination, she has managed to intimidate every roommate she has ever been assigned. Along comes Marilyn, a gregarious, buoyant creature who proves to be Abby’s greatest challenge.

These two wonderful characters embark on a journey to win sole custody of the room they have been forced to share. Into the mix is added Scotty, an orderly in the retirement home and Abby’s confidant; Colleen and Benjamin, Marilyn’s daughter and son-in-law, who become unwilling co-conspirators in Marilyn’s outrageous schemes; and Benjamin, Abby’s estranged son, who has been battling addiction.

Wonderfully dark and filled with twists and turns, *Ripcord* is a comedy of unexpected depth and delight.

A bright, dedicated, and committed resident aide at Bristol Place Senior Living; an aspiring actor; he is trying to do his job to the best of his ability and make Marilyn and Abby happy, but he will not shy away from putting his foot down when needed.

Male, 30–50’s

Benjamin is the estranged son of Abby; reclusive and shy; rough around the edges; a former addict who has relapsed many times. Lewis is a skydiving instructor; knowledgeable and lively. The Clown is an actor in a haunted house who plays an evil clown. This actor needs to be able to jump between varying characters easily.

The bright, lighthearted, quirky, and caring daughter of Marilyn and wife of Derek; will go to extreme lengths to help her mother win the room and to gain a friend. The Woman in White is an actress in a haunted house.

Derek is Colleen’s husband; more realistic and reserved than his wife. The Zombie Butler is an actor who is leading the haunted house tour, ghoulish and domineering. Also plays Masked Man.

Audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Please be prepared to read for multiple characters. You may be asked to participate in simple movement or ensemble activities. No experience needed.

We’re thrilled to finally share that our summer production is β€œRipcord” by David Lindsay-Abaire. A story that’s equal parts laugh-out-loud funny and genuinely surprising, Ripcord follows two older women caught up in a bet that none of us would ever dare make. It’s sharp. It’s witty. And it’s coming in August. Stay tuned for auditions and more information this spring.
