Tonight is our last performance of Cinderella! But before we put the show to bed, we realized we need to introduce you to one last member of our production - a veteran with more SummerStage credits than you can shake a stick at!

Who are you in real life and who are you in Cinderella?
My name is Douglas Fir, and I play the stump.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?
I sit in the prop shop, trying not to rot.

Past experience with SummerStage:
I’m excited to have been cast in another Rodger’s and Hammerstein show after my outstanding performances in Oklahoma, Carousel, and The Sound of Music! I’ve also appeared in Fiddler on the Roof, All Shook Up, Big River, Seussical, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, the Producers, Into the Woods, and Starlight Express. Favorite named roles include both Emmet Forrest AND Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Annie Oakley, Audrey II in Little Shop (ugh, typecasting), and Matilda Wormwood when I was just a sapling. But my favorite role was probably Edna Turnblad in Hairspray.

Any other favorite theatre experiences you’d like to mention?
Shrek the musical at Waterville High School, and the original touring cast of Cats.

What part or aspect of the show are you most excited to share with the audience?
I think the audience is really going to love our other main characters; you just can’t help rooting for them. And this revised version of the show adds a couple of great Rodgers and Hammerstein “trunk songs” that folks may not have ever heard before.

What’s the most challenging part or aspect of the show that you’re proud of mastering?
I’ve had to branch out a bit and try some new things. We logged a lot of hours in rehearsal where we just had to woodshed, with the director needling us - at one point I was almost ready to leaf! But the finished product is great, and I think I really spruce things up.

What made you want to be part of this show?
You know, some people say Rodgers and Hammerstein are a bit sappy, but I love them. It’s always great to get back to my roots with them and SummerStage!

Is there a particular part or aspect of the show or your character that really resonates with you?
I really identify with the way the prince pines for Cinderella. And the boughs! All of mine have already been taken, but I love watching the rest of the cast take theirs.

Don’t miss Douglas and the rest of this incredible cast- tonight at 7:30 is your last chance! Get your tickets for the show at the box office or at

We’re just two nights away from opening Cinderella, and we’ve got one last very important person for you to meet - our title character! Cinderella, or Ella for short, played by Arwen Reddick. Arwen *just* graduated from RFA, and is on her way to SUNY Geneseo in the fall.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?
I spend time with my family and friends. I also take voice lessons and plan for college!

Past experience with SummerStage:
My first summer stage play was last year we did Something Rotten. I got to be the sad little egg 😂

Any other favorite theatre experiences you’d like to mention?
I had so much fun when my high school put on a production of Sweeny Todd. I got the role of Johanna and I had a blast acting with the experienced seniors!

What part or aspect of the show are you most excited to share with the audience?
I’m really excited for the costume changes and transformations!

What’s the most challenging part or aspect of the show that you’re proud of mastering?
With the short amount of time we have to choreograph, block, and memorize lines I’m very proud of myself!

What made you want to be part of this show?
I’ve been in summer stage before and I had a wonderful experience! I knew I was going to met so many new and kind faces!

We know you’re going to love Arwen and the rest of our fantastic cast. Tickets are going fast so get yours now - online at RomeCapitol.com, at thRome Capitol Theatrere box office during normal business hours, or wait and take your chances at the door! Performances are this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30pm.

Our production of Cinderella is just a few short days away, but we still have to introduce you to a couple very important people! Today we’d like you to meet Zach Swistak.

What is your role in Cinderella?
Prince Christopher Rupert Windemere Vladimir Karl Alexander François Reginald Lancelot Herman Gregory James…or Topher for short

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre? Mostly video games and hanging out with friends!

Past experience with SummerStage:
Ensemble in Carousel (2016), Ensemble in Mary Poppins (2018), Simon Zealotes in Jesus Christ Superstar (2022), Ensemble in Fiddler on the Roof (2023), Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid (2023), and a Member of the Troupe in Something Rotten! (2024)

Any other favorite theatre experiences you’d like to mention?
"Go and look it up the poor GUYS head is spinning" (thanks Jake)

Is there a particular part or aspect of the show or your character that really resonates with you? Topher has a big problem with knowing who he is, which I, and I think many other people my age, struggle with as well. I think it's beautiful to see that very real feeling portrayed on stage as something normal, as something that doesn't make you any less of a person than the rest.

We couldn’t agree more, and we know you’re going to love Zach’s portrayal of Topher. Also, we don’t know if you heard, but the Prince is giving a Ball, and our cast can’t wait to boogie on the royal dance floor 🪩💃🏽🕺🏽 - don’t miss it! This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30pm. Tickets are available online at RomeCapitol.com, at the Rome Capitol Theatre box office during normal business hours, or at the door!
