Wow, my new navy & floral iPad and Kindle cases have very quickly become bestsellers! It's been so fun to see so many people excited about this combo.

This navy faux leather feels amazing and is lovely to sew with. This texture!! This has been one of my favorite projects to come through my studio.

My clients Carol and her daughter Teresa, a science teacher, stopped at my booth earlier this summer at the Edina Art Fair and told me about their amazing periodic table quilt.

I was so excited when they followed up after the show asking me to quilt this for them. Getting to see and work with this quilt in person and help these blocks pop was so fulfilling.

To create the quilt they machine-embroidered each square of cotton with a piece of batting behind it, and meander quilted each filler square the same way, then joined all the squares together with skinny sashing. (Swipe to the end to see how the quilt top came to me.)

To join this to backing fabric, I laid another full piece of batting behind the "top" to ensure full coverage, then quilted a wonky diamonds pattern in the sashing to hold all the layers together. The denser quilting in the sashing also helped it recede into the background so the blocks can shine.
