From Abbie Harriman (Rogers alum/Rogers director): In high school my theatre directors (Scott Tipton and Tal- both Rogers theatre directors) taught us, “There is magic in the theatre…the theatre is magic…”
As a teenager I thought this meant how profoundly we told a story to move/change an audience…however, as I get older, I realize the magic is in the community we’ve built…a beautiful community with the most unique and wonderful people who come together for something greater than ourselves.
Lisa Landry and John P Landry are two of these people, who are magic and spread magic. Yesterday, John passed away unexpectedly and our theatre community is heartbroken. The Landry’s are true artists and teachers. The impact they’ve had on our community is ever-lasting and John will forever be missed.
Theatre teaches us that no one creates anything meaningful alone. John lived that truth every day…with his kindness, his artistry, his bigger-than-life personality, and his passion. While our hearts are broken, the magic he helped create remains in every student he inspired, every friend he encouraged, and every life he touched. Please keep Lisa, their children, and all who loved him on your hearts. If you are able, please consider donating to help support their family during this difficult time.
