An 18th-century warship could require around 2,000 oak trees to build. Oak was prized for shipbuilding because of its strength and durability...strong enough to build ships designed to withstand years at sea.

Pretty amazing to think that some of the same wood we use in woodworking today once helped carry ships across the ocean.
