In 1998, I bought a painting on eBay for $270. It is quite large and we were about to move from Arkansas to Massachusetts, so I didn't bother unpacking it. It is still packed (along with a few other items!), so I've no idea what I bought! The description by the seller was - "Original oil on canvas depicts a Mediterranean country's port with hills and homes surrounding. Quite lovely and simply painted it gives a calming effect. Judging from frame and backside probably circa 1920's. Canvas could use restretching otherwise no damage. Measures 44" wide by 22.5" tall." At the time of purchase, HD digital images had not been invented, so the photo below doesn't provide any detail or insight into the quality of the painting. I've seen a lot of Italian paintings of the late 19th/early 20th centuries and I bought it as another example of Italian painting.
