The Black Feathers will appear at Old Sloop Presents TONIGHT, May 30, with Nora Meier opening. Tickets are available at The Bookstore of Gloucester until about noon, and at John Tarr Store and https://oldslooppresents.org until about 4:00pm. There will also be tickets available at the door.

Coming all the way from Wales, The Black Feathers will return to the Old Sloop THIS SATURDAY, May 30. Boston-based singer-songwriter Nora Meier will open the show. Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012. Americana, Folk, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. Raised on her dad’s curated mixtapes and epic vinyl collection, Nora Meier developed a deep love for the format of The Album and an obsession with Bruce Springsteen. Abbie Gardner will return to the Old Sloop THIS SATURDAY, May 2, with Jenna Nicholls opening. Abbie Gardner is a fiery dobro player with an infectious smile. Whether performing solo or with Americana harmony trio Red Molly, her acclaimed tales of love and loss, both gritty and sweet, are propelled by her impeccable lap style slide guitar playing. Solo performances feature the dobro as a solo instrument, bouncing between a solid rhythmic backbone and ripping lead lines, all in support of her voice and songs. Hailing from the small town of Irwin, PA Jenna Nicholls set her sights east to test her wings as a songwriter and performer. Initially trying Boston, she ultimately gravitated to the creative hotbed of Manhattan’s Lower East Side forging lasting friendships with other like-minded artists and musicians. Antje Duvekot and David Berkeley will co-bill at Old Sloop Presents THIS SATURDAY, April 18. Antje Duvekot has won three of the top prizes in the singer songwriter world: the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious Kerrville, Texas “Best New Folk Award” and the Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act”. David Berkeley’s gift as a songwriter and storyteller is that he sees the tragedy and comedy in life, writing songs capable of both breaking and healing the heart. The New York Times praises his “lustrous, melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake”.
