Hey all! Apologies for the radio silence recently - I’ve been quite busy at Sony Music, but I’m loving it so far.

Quality Control (QC), which is my main responsibility at Sony, is an important step in the production of audio. QC engineers are the “last pair of hands” on mastered audio products, checking for any major errors or problems before they’re approved for distribution. These include extraneous noises, digital clicks and ticks, distortion, missed curse edits in clean edits, and many others.

Outside of standard stereo releases, we also work with immersive audio formats like Atmos and 360RA, 5.1 and 7.1, and even quadrophonic audio. In addition to standard QC checks, these products must be tested to ensure that they conform to distributor standards in both immersive and binaural (i.e., rendered down to stereo) formats.

I’m greatly enjoying my time at Sony so far. I’m hoping to do some more external audio work in the future, so stay tuned!
(Pictured are views from Sony’s US offices - since we work with high-security content, I can’t post much that I’ve worked on. Thankfully the neighborhood is quite photogenic!)
