Our pop-up ballet classes transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary venues for creativity and expression. Imagine perfecting your port de bras in a serene art gallery, discovering the joy of movement in a trendy coffee shop, or practicing your pliés amidst the inspiring and cozy backdrop of a local book store. These classes not only teach movement skills but also offer a fresh perspective on familiar surroundings and an opportunity for connection. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Announcing the 2026 Avant Summer Company cast of performers and specifically the Hue and Chroma casts of PRIMARY/secondary! You can witness this original short-form ballet set to the music of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue all over the city this summer! More performance details to come!

PRIMARY/secondary is a contemporary ballet inspired by color theory, exploring the playful and energetic relationships between colors. Each dancer embodies a color of the rainbow, beginning with the primary hues that blend and intertwine to form radiant secondary shades. Through this vibrant palette, the ballet celebrates the dynamic harmony that emerges when distinct elements come together, evoking a rich spectrum of human emotions.

At its core, PRIMARY/secondary is a celebration — a celebration of modern and classical dance, the pure joy of movement, and the extraordinary phenomenon that dance embodies. It is a celebration of queerness and diversity. It is a celebration of unique personalities and identities that intertwine on stage, reflecting the beauty found in differences and the strength in unity.

This work embraces the power of living life together authentically and joyfully. It invites audiences to witness not only the fusion of colors but also the vibrant spectrum of human experience and community.
