The 2nd City Chorus

The 2nd City Chorus Dedicated to singing and performing a cappella harmony at a high level of excellence.

2nd City Chorus meets weekly throughout the year on Tuesday evenings at Christ United Methodist Church, Rockford (4509 Highcrest Rd.) Chorus members come from the Rockford community as well as Freeport, Belvidere, Oregon, Byron, Woodstock, Roscoe, and Beloit. All men and woman, from ‘shower singers’ to ‘professional performers’ are invited to join this exciting organization.

We just got done competing in the Illinois district fall contest. We are proud that we took another parody down to CONTEST and we finished in fourth place. Our Harry Potter theme paid off and the audience loved it.

2nd City Chorus had to say good-bye to one of our original members on July 31. Harold Heeren lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at his home.
Harold sang with the Sinnissippi Sound Chorus before joining 2nd City during our start up year in 1996. He was my baritone in my first quartet from 2nd City. Harold was know as the master of rhythm. He was always the go to person if we weren’t singing a rhythm correctly.
He also would read jokes and stories to the chorus on a regular basis so we could get a good laugh in.
Harold had a love for fishing. He would take me out on Rice Lake in Northern Minnesota to fish for Large Mouth Bass. I have one of those large mouth bass mounted on my wall at home.
We will miss his great sense of humor, his great baritone voice, and his knowledge of rhythm.
Thank you Harold for being a part of the 2nd City family, for being my friend and fishing buddy.

2nd Opinion Quartet and the 2nd City Chorus would like to share the sad news that we lost a valuable member of our Singing family. Mark Klemm (on the left) passed away unexpectedly today. Please put his Wife Roxanne and their family in your prayers. We will miss Mark so so Much. Mark was the Baritone of my quartet for 14 years and also sang with The Up North 4.
