Matthew Merryweather Wylder is one of the Somnium artist, he is a new human. Mainly alien.

Sound dreamer, ancient, irrervernt,contrary, and holder of sacred spaces, cursed objects. One who reveres alters and shrines.

The forest is home yet so is an alleyway, basement or dumpster. Music has always been a cathartic and useful tool to explore the known universe!(and unkown infinadom.

Tones,riffs,ditties, feedback and harmonic resonance all in curious ways full of play and whymsy!

SPARK! Somnium student camp was on the move, exploring the workshops and new GROW exhibit in progress at the Discovery Center Museum

Huge thanks to Head of Exhibits at the museum, Brad Towell who taught our young artists about what daily life planning, building and maintaining exhibits for a children’s museum looks like.

Thanks to Aubrey Irwin of Roto for talking to our students about the process of creating and installing the amazing mural wallpaper of GROW and how a big exhibition project moves from idea to reality.

We had an awesome time! The GROW exhibit opens next week on July 4. Don’t miss it!

Thank you so much to for hosting our Spark! Somnium Art Camp students last week during the rainy weather!

Our students enjoyed the Midwestern Biennial and a tour of the art museum and they were able to learn and work among the artwork throughout the galleries.

What an amazing experience for our young art students— right here in Rockford. Thank you! 🫶🙌 Rockford Area Arts Council
