Sitting on the floor of my studio today, covered in smudges of chalk pastel, I felt totally free, lost in color and texture. There’s something so cathartic about getting messy, letting go of perfection, and just creating with your hands. It’s in these moments, when we stop thinking and just feel, that we often find ourselves. Each smear, each layer, is a little piece of my story. Sometimes, the mess is where the magic happens.

Today, I’m having a blast in my sketchbook, experimenting with drawing women’s faces in black and white using charcoal. I’ve been adding flowers and greenery through the faces, painting them with vibrant acrylic colors. There’s something magical about the contrast between the monochromatic faces and the bursts of colorful flowers—it’s like life blooming through the lines.

And can we talk about the paper towels I use to wipe my brushes? They’re turning into little works of art themselves, covered in splashes of paint and color. Sometimes, they’re just as pretty as the pieces I’m working on!

Do any of you find beauty in the unexpected like this? šŸŽØ

I have a little confession to make: I never used to do warmup exercises before diving into my art. I thought they were unnecessary and just took time away from ā€œrealā€ creating. But recently, I decided to give them a try, and wow, what a difference they make!

Doing a quick warmup helps me separate from the craziness of the day and get my creativity flowing. It’s like giving my brain permission to relax and play. Here are some benefits I’ve noticed:

**Reduces pressure:** No expectations, just fun!

**Loosens up your hand and mind:** Get those creative muscles moving!

**Explores new ideas:** Sometimes, the warmup sparks a whole new direction.

**Gets you in the zone:** Easier to transition into more focused work.

If you haven’t tried it yet, I totally recommend giving it a shot!

If you are already doing warmup exercises, what’s your favorite way to warm up? Let’s share some ideas! I’m totally open to trying new ideas!! šŸ’•āœØ
