Today, on Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality for Black Americans.

As we honor this important day in our nation's history, we also recognize the Black LGBTQ+ trailblazers who helped shape movements for justice, visibility, and liberation. Individuals like James Baldwin, Bayard Rustin, Gladys Bentley, and Marsha P. Johnson challenged barriers, inspired generations, and reminded us that the fight for equality is strongest when it includes all of us.

Their courage, creativity, and advocacy continue to influence our community today. As we celebrate Juneteenth, we reflect on the intersections of Black history and LGBTQ+ history and recommit ourselves to building a future where everyone can live authentically, safely, and proudly.

Happy Juneteenth from the Quad Cities Pride Alliance. β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’šπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

🌈 A Heartfelt Thank You to the Quad Cities Pride Alliance Board of Directors 🌈

As the excitement of another incredible Quad Cities Pride Festival begins to settle, we want to take a moment to recognize the dedicated volunteers who make it all happen.

Behind every vendor booth, entertainment act, sponsor partnership, community outreach event, flag installation, meeting, email, and late-night planning session are 8 PASSIONATE VOLUNTEERS serving on the Quad Cities Pride Alliance Board of Directors.

These individuals give countless hours throughout the year, not for recognition, but because they believe in creating a stronger, more inclusive Quad Cities where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and celebrated. They balance careers, families, and personal commitments while working tirelessly to bring Pride to our community.

The festival may only last a weekend, but the work behind it happens year-round.

To our Board of Directors: thank you for your leadership, your dedication, your vision, and your unwavering commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community. Your hard work created a weekend filled with joy, connection, visibility, and pride for thousands of people.

πŸ’œ If you see one of our board members, be sure to thank them for everything they do to make Pride possible.

Together, they prove that a small group of dedicated volunteers can make a tremendous impact.

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Thank you, QCPA Board of Directors. We couldn't do it without you.
