We recently received the unexpected news that Iroquois Springs had been sold, and that the new owners would not be honoring any upcoming rentals. Nevertheless, we are happy to announce that the 2026 Wula Drum & Dance Retreat will now be happening at the Timber Lake West Camp! Only about 20 minutes from Iroquois Springs. Nestled in the Catskill Mountains, Timber Lake West is a beautiful 380-acre camp surrounded by nature, with its own private spring-fed lake, comfortable cabins & dining facilities. The camp offers spacious indoor areas that will provide us with dedicated spaces for our drum and dance classes, along with plenty of room to gather, connect, and enjoy the Retreat together.

Anyone who has spent time studying djembe knows that the rhythms of Mali 🇲🇱 carry a special richness and complexity.

This year at the Wula Drum & Dance Retreat , you’ll have the rare opportunity to study with not one, but two outstanding Malian djembefolas: returning faculty member Moussa Traore Djembe and Abdoul Doumbia, joining us for the first time. And beyond their workshops, both will also be playing for Souleymane Solo Sana ‘s dance class!
