RCS Summer Music Theatre

RCS Summer Music Theatre Join is for the 2019 production of Matilda the Musical SMT is operated as a professional production, from auditions through staging and presentation.

Summer Music Theatre, also called SMT, continues to be an annual tradition for the Rochester area community. Started in 1973 at Adams High School, SMT is now managed through the Summer Learning Program of the Rochester Community Schools and a community wide education offering. Each summer offers a new musical theatre production as an opportunity for middle school and high school age students to st

udy the theater process on-stage and back-stage. Typically, the location of the production rotates among the three RCS high schools. With regular sold out performances, the Rochester area community has applauded these entertaining and high energy productions.

We hope this email finds you safe and healthy during this unprecedented time in our lives. In the interest of the safety of our students and staff, Rochester Community Schools has made the difficult decision to cancel Summer Music Theatre 2020. Please read the message below from our director, Joanna Pillsbury:

"Summer Music Theatre will continue to be a tradition for Rochester Community Schools, but just like Broadway, we are just on hold for this season. Considerations for our seniors will be made next year as they are welcome to return to the program. Please know, this decision was not made lightly and the opportunity for sharing our wonderful program will return.”
