As we get ready for the start of our 26/27 season, we're looking back on more than 100 years of performances. Travel through time with us to take a look at some of our Bravos (playbills) throughout the years.
Our history has helped shape who we are today, while we continue to grow and evolve. Whether you're a longtime concertgoer or you're new to the RPO, we thought we'd share a few fun facts about our history!
Did you know…
- Sunday afternoon concerts have only been part of our season for the past three years. Before that, all of our Philharmonic concerts took place on Thursday and Saturday evenings.
- We're 103 years old—and still growing!
- More than 60 musicians make up your RPO, with tenures ranging from 1 to 50 years. This season marks percussionist Brian Stotz's 50th year with your RPO.
- We're not the RPO—we're your RPO, because we're a community experiencing music together.
- Last year, we presented 176 RPO for All events, bringing accessible music throughout Rochester and creating meaningful connections across our community.
- We've had seven different logos throughout our history.
- We perform more than 60 concerts each year, including our outdoor season, educational concerts, and main season.
