Join us for First Friday as we highlight the evocative, nature‑driven work of Marleen van Aardt — Marleen is a self‑taught artist, plein air painter, and scientist with a PhD in Food Science whose creative practice is shaped by a lifelong love of the natural world.

Born in South Africa and now painting throughout Western New York, Marleen brings a sense of discovery, presence, and quiet connection to every piece she creates. Her plein air work responds directly to shifting light, sound, and atmosphere, distilling the essence of a moment into expressive, grounded landscapes. Her work invites viewers to pause, breathe, and feel the place she’s captured.

We welcome you to an evening of art, conversation, and community as we open our September exhibition.

1 step closer-I wanted to take a minute to announce that yesterday evening, the Zoning Board of Appeals voted to approve the Gallery’s Certificate of Nonconformity, allowing us to move forward with reactivating our space as an Art Gallery.

The Rochester Fine Art Market will be closed today, 8/27/26.

Tonight, we will appear before the Zoning Board of Appeals to ask that our Art Gallery may continue in its current home at 1210 Culver Rd, Rochester, NY 14609.

We’re grateful for the support of our community during this important time, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to keep this space alive for local art and expression.
