This weekend was our final chance to work through the chaos, comedy, and nonstop energy of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro before tech week.

We’re so grateful to have the support of Detroit jazz vocalist Olivia Van Goor, whose artistry and musicianship continue to make an impact across Michigan and beyond. A two-time 2025 Michigan Music Award winner for Best Jazz Album and Best Jazz Single/Performance, Olivia is recognized for her rich sound, timeless style, and fresh approach to jazz repertoire. From intimate jazz clubs to performances with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, she continues to be an important voice in the Midwest music scene, and we’re honored to have her support this production.

If anyone in Figaro actually has a handle on what’s going on… it’s probably Susanna.⁠
⁠
Between dodging the Count’s advances, helping the Countess, planning her wedding, and keeping Figaro focused, she spends the entire opera balancing wit, patience, and just the right amount of sarcasm. She’s sharp, grounded, and seems to always be the smartest person in the room.⁠
⁠
Susanna is at the center of so many of Figaro’s funniest moments, but she also brings so much heart to the story. Mozart gave her some absolutely gorgeous music, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience it live next weekend 💜⁠

Meet Count and Countess Almaviva in Opera de Metro’s production of The Marriage of Figaro by W.A. Mozart.

Between misunderstandings, hidden plans, and plenty of relationship drama, the Count and Countess are right in the middle of the chaos that makes Figaro so fun. Their story brings some of the opera’s funniest moments, alongside some truly gorgeous music from Mozart.
