🚚 I'm moving! I'm excited about the next part of my journey as I pack up my things and move north to the great city of Rochester, NY. I look forward to meeting all the wonderful board gamers there and immersing myself in the local tabletop community.

I am thankful for all of the support the people at gave in the past five years. Highland Park, NJ has been a wonderful place to call home. Thr community has been so incredibly supportive and I met a ton of amazing people while here! I'll be sure to visit!

I will be in New Jersey for just another month. It might take me a week or so to get set up after I move. Orders placed before July 4th will go out without delay.b

If you're in or around , I'd love someone to show me the local board game scene!

👋 Hi everyone! I've been pretty quiet for the past year or so. That's because... I got married! I allocated so much time to preparing the perfect eclipse wedding and honeymoon for me and my (now) wife! Unfortunately, that meant Pleiades Games had to take a temporary hiatus.

Now we are back and have some exciting news coming up, including some ~events. Stay tuned!

🎃 Did you know that this board game developer's name has roots in Halloween? Keep reading for some spooky info!

Notice a familiar shape in the picture? Pictured is a small star cluster, sometimes considered to be part of Ta**us, called the Pleiades. The ancient celts believed the Pleiades was a portal to the afterlife. Since the Pleiades is highest in mid fall in the northern hemisphere, the celts believed that this is when the portal was the most "open." Because of this, families would often leave their departed loved ones favorite treats on their doorsteps, hoping that they find comfort in their untimely demise. This tradition became trick or treating, and also became what we know as Halloween!

I wanted to create games that are immersive, transporting you deep into a theme. It's almost as if these games are portals themselves to different realms. That is why I picked The Pleiades to represent my creative vision.

If you're taking a midnight stroll, look up to the sky and see if you can spot the Pleiades. You can do so by following Orions Belt to Ta**us's V shape. Keep going and you could see "the seven sisters" in a small cluster!

Hope you enjoyed this brief background into my favorite astronomical entity. :)

📦 It's Shippin' Season 🏴‍☠️

A different type of post! What you see here is my little tiny car packed to the brim with packages. This is a large shipment of over 70 games (Sea Shanties and Curiosity) going out to friendly local game stores across the world! This is what it looks like to be a self distributed board game company - Large trips to UPS and USPS in your car, no matter how tiny.

This also happens to be the biggest single order ever, so hooray for milestones! 🏆

RIP Klaus Tuber.

I remember when I first played Settlers of Catan. I liked playing board games prior (I played a lot of Sorry and Monopoly), but Catan just hit different. It was the first time I realized that board games can have more player agency. Games were no longer bound to the "Roll, Go, Perform action dictated by the board" formula. It changed the way I viewed board games and honestly sparked a passion in tabletop gaming.

You could see how much I was inspired by Tuber's work in the very first game I created, Sea Shanties (swipe to see comparison). The modular dynamic board, wooden player tokens, resource gathering mechanics, earned actions on cards, and multiple ways to score points were all inspired from Catan. The games are a bit different mechanically, but you can tell that it was inspired by Catan.

This is just one example of one indie developer that was inspired by Tuber. There are thousands of us all over the globe that decided to create immersive tabletop experiences thanks to Tuber. I am happy to be one of them.

His games jump started the golden age of board gaming. His legacy has made the world a much better place. He will be missed, and his games will continue to inspire amazing tabletop experiences.
