“Play Time,” a Gallery Pick by Margy Meath, beautifully captures the spirit of youthful curiosity and the grace of nature through the lens of two playful fox kits. Using a shallow depth of field, Margy expertly draws focus to the kits’ lively interaction, highlighting the fine details of their bright eyes, delicate whiskers, soft fur, and a prized feather. The gentle bokeh effect in the background isolates the subjects, allowing their expressions and movements to take center stage. The image evokes a sense of wonder, inviting viewers to imagine stories behind the kits' playful exchange—whether they are on a hunting adventure or simply enjoying a playful moment with a feather. Margy’s photograph not only showcases technical skill and thoughtful composition but also tenderly conveys the social and inquisitive nature of young foxes. It’s a charming celebration of wildlife and childhood-like wonder. Congratulations, Margy!

Christy Hibsch’s striking photograph, “Mirror Image” captures the graceful choreography of a tern and its reflection. More than a portrait, it freezes a fleeting moment: wings outstretched above and echoed below. Christy blends sky and water seamlessly, drawing the eye to the bird and its mirrored twin. Even the splashes shimmer in harmony, enhancing the realism. Capturing such drama is the mark of a skilled wildlife photographer. As Henri Cartier-Bresson said, seizing the decisive moment is key—and this image exemplifies that. The minimal background and muted colors keep full focus on the bird’s elegant pose and reflection. Congratulations on a Gallery Pick, Christy. See Christy’s other photographs and those of the other 20 photographers during the “Women’s Perspective 2025” through May 11.

Congratulations to Cindy El-Gaaly for her striking Gallery Pick, “Ain’t She Grand” with a strong visual appeal from the nighttime setting and the beautifully lit bridge. The low-angle perspective lends the structure a grand, monumental feel, while the symmetry of the spans draws the eye gracefully through the frame. The night lighting is well captured, with a lovely contrast between the cool blue steel and the warm golden glow on the water and piers. Reflections on the water’s surface add depth and interest, enhancing the composition. The vivid blue tones are especially captivating. Diane Dersch’s “Black Knight” is a striking Gallery Pick, elevated by its black-and-white palette and luminous metal finish. The horse, caught mid-turn, exudes strength and calm, its sleek coat gleaming like polished armor. A textured backdrop adds timeless drama, while monochrome highlights every muscle and graceful contour. The metal print captures light beautifully, lending the image a vivid, almost living quality. Diane’s precise framing emphasizes the horse’s nobility and spirit. More than a portrait, the image evokes the mystery and grandeur of mythical steeds, inviting reflection on the beauty, power, and elegance of these majestic creatures. See other photographs of Diane’s and those of the other 20 photographers during the “Women’s Perspective 2025” through May 11.

Congratulation to Steve Dent’s Gallery Pick that invites us into the moody, tranquil world of Louisiana’s Atchafalaya Ancient Swamp through his evocative photography. In Serenity & Quiet of the Swamps, a standout among his work, silhouetted tree stumps anchor the composition, while layered trees recede into the mist, creating an absorbing sense of depth.
Steve’s mastery of grayscale tones—ranging from deep blacks to delicate grays—shapes a dreamlike, monochromatic landscape, touched with a faint sepia warmth. A golden glint of sunlight adds just enough contrast to lift the muted palette. With exquisitely rendered textures and a smooth sky gradient, the image resonates with a timeless, nostalgic beauty.
