Heartfelt thank-you to Pinnacle W**e & Liquor for hosting this Italian tasting! ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐น
These are the moments I love most about w**e: the stories, the discoveries, the connections, and the people gathered around the table. โค๏ธ
One of the w**es that made the experience extra special was the 2024 Pacher Hof Kerner from Alto Adige, Italy. ๐ฎ๐น
โจ A little grape education! Did you know Kerner has a fascinating family tree? This aromatic white grape was born in Germany in 1929, when grape breeder August Herold crossed Trollinger (Schiava Grossa) and Riesling. Think of it as a meeting of two very different personalities: Trollinger contributes hardiness and structure, while Riesling brings its beautiful aromatics and vibrant acidity.
The result? A grape that can deliver refreshing acidity, expressive aromatics, and lovely notes of citrus, stone fruit, and sometimes delicate floral or herbal nuances.
And this bottle has another story to tell! Pacher Hofโs vineyards sit high in the Dolomites, at elevations of approximately 650โ900 meters (2,130โ2,950 feet). Those mountain conditions help preserve freshness and create w**es with wonderful clarity and character. ๐๏ธ๐ฅ
Thereโs always something new to discover, and sometimes the most memorable glass is the one that introduces us to a grape we havenโt explored before!
Hereโs to good w**e, curious palates, meaningful connections, and many more experiences worth raising a glass to!
W**e brings us together. The stories keep us connected. ๐
