SPECIAL EVENT
Join us this Thursday evening for a special Talk and Walk with Tarrant Clements of her current retrospective at the RIT University Gallery. If you haven’t seen the show yet, this is a wonderful opportunity to view an incredible show with the artist herself.

Tarrant has been a long-time member of the Print Club of Rochester, and we are thrilled she is able to offer this opportunity to her fellow members! You can read more about her show below.

Come for the entire two hours, or drop in when you are able to. We encourage you to RSVP, but it isn’t necessary to attend the event.

Event Details:
Location: RIT University Gallery - located in James E. Booth Hall, Room 2700
Time/Day: We will meet in the gallery from 5-7pm, Thursday, September 24, 2026
Parking: Find visitor parking in Lot E. No permit needed after 5pm.

Tarrant Clements: The Shape Of Space is an exhibition spanning 50 years of exploration in printmaking and sculpture. For over five decades, Clements has explored countless printmaking techniques, never quite settling into one. Clements is searching for something deeper inside rather than focusing on the transient happenings of daily life. Her work is an exploration of color and form, a deeply personal way to understand how space is shaped. Clements dives into a world all her own, her compositions hint at a search for something deeper, a relationship between form, color, and space. Clements’ ultimate message is an inspiring one; keep creating, if only for your own satisfaction, make art for the sake of making art.

Here are a few artifacts from the Print Club of Rochester archives featuring invitations for workshops, lectures, film screenings, and social gatherings in the 1950s and 1960s. The Print Club of Rochester was founded by members of the Memorial Art Gallery in 1930 and over the years has partnered with the Rochester Museum & Science Ctr and Central library of Rochester & Monroe County and other esteemed Rochester institutions for cultural events and exhibitions. The Club continues this tradition as we head towards our 100th year in 2030. Look for announcements soon for exciting partnerships with Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation (RBSCP) and plus much more in the coming months!

Mehdi Darvishi is the current artist-in-residence at Institute for Electronic Arts and will be presenting a free in-person and zoom artist talk Tuesday September 8.

Mehdi Darvishi is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice spans from traditional printmaking and wooden sculptures to interactive paintings and site-specific installations. He was born in the summer of 1988, coinciding with the Iran – Iraq peace resolution. In his war-stricken hometown, Mehdi grew up unexposed to art galleries and museums. In 2007 he left home to earn a BFA in Painting at the University of Tehran. After receiving his degree in 2011, his interest in printmaking grew into a life’s pursuit. He has since exhibited in over 30 countries and has participated in more than three hundred global exhibitions, competitions, residencies, and as a visiting artist. His works have been widely collected by museums such as the China Printmaking Museum, the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Art, Jyvaskyla Museum of Fine Arts, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, and the US Library of Congress.

Announcing a special limited bonus print exclusively for Print Club members!
This print will be a wood engraving commissioned from Joanne Price exclusively for the Print Club of Rochester. To keep things mysterious and interesting, Starting July 1 we will be offering a “Blind Bird” pre-order for a mere $35. The price will then go to $45 for pre-order once we show the first preview images with additional specifications, and upon release will be $55 until it has sold out. There will only be 50 copies available. If they sell out before release, don’t say we didn’t give you notice!
