Here it is, a fresh new murder of crows to delve into the darkness of the human condition. The amount and quality of talent who auditioned was astounding. This is, truly, the most bloodthirsty of casts, and we cannot wait to see them on stage together. 🐦‍⬛

We have added a second audition night for Jekyll and Hyde. So now auditions will be held on both Sun Feb 8th and Wed Feb 11th at the MUCCC starting at 6:30. Also repeating this if you missed it, Jekyll & Hyde will be performed using standard British Received pronunciation. 🐦‍⬛

Announcing open auditions for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde!

When are auditions: Sunday Feb 8th, 6:30 - 9:30
*SECOND DATE ADDED*: Wednesday, Feb 11th, 6:30 - 9:30

Where are auditions: MuCCC 142 Atlantic Ave. Rochester, NY 14607
Performers: 4 male presenting, 2 female presenting
Tech week: Aug 2-6 2026
Performance dates: Aug 7, 8, 9 (matinee), 13, 14, 15 2026

***Performers can have NO conflicts during tech week or during performances.***

Rehearsals: May-August. Please provide summer vacation plans and availability as accurately as possible when auditioning. Summer is a busy time and we try to do our best to accommodate travel plans, casting needs and the needs of the production as best as possible.

Rehearsal location: The Flying Squirrel.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a play adapted from the Novella “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Dr. Jekyll, a respected doctor, develops a tincture that brings out his evil nature. It’s a classic story about the duality of man with a very long and distinguished theatrical history.

Jeffery Hatcher’s adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a highly theatrical ensemble piece that focuses on psychological horror; perfect for Crow City! The staging features twists on the classic story that allow the performers to slip into different characters, including multiple versions of the cunning Mr. Hyde. There are several reviews and Youtube videos referencing this adaptation available for the curious.

Auditions will consist of reading short sides from the script.

Crow City Theatre encourages all genders and ages (18+) to audition for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The majority of the characters in the play are portrayed from their 30’s to late 60’s. Crow City Theatre practices fully inclusive casting. Character genders and ages described reflect the required presentation and age of the characters to aid in storytelling and are not casting requirements for the performers.

***A British RP accent will be used for this production.***

Characters in the play:

Mr. Edward Hyde (performed by the company) - The facets of Jekyll’s dark personality, a character unto himself.

Dr. Henry Jekyll - A respected doctor. Plays no other characters.

Gabriel Utterson - Reserved Lawyer and Gentleman, friend of Jekyll’s. Sets the stage for the story.

Elizabeth Jelkes - Chamber Maid at Charing Cross Hotel, love interest to Edward Hyde

Dr. H.K. Lanyon - A doctor and colleague of Jekyll with an exuberant laugh. A believer in conventional medicine.

Sir Danvers Carew - Chief Surgeon and lecturer at the College of London Hospital. Ethically questionable.

Pool, The Butler - Assistant to Jekyll

Sanderson - A Private Detective

Mr. Richard Enfield - A cousin of Gabriel Utterson and gentleman.

Other characters: Pr******te, Policeman, Maid, Old Women, Little Girl, Drunkard, Hotel Clerk, Morgue Orderly

August 1888 was a eventful month in London. On August 4th, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde opened. Only a few days later some nasty stuff started in Whitechapel on August 7. We found all this out after we had designed this lovely poster for an awesome, atmospheric theatrical ensemble piece that is going to open August, 2026 in Rochester, NY. It will be 138 years later!

Jeffrey Hatcher's brilliant script is a true psychological thriller. Anyone, or everyone could be Hyde! It's very Crow City. We are so excited for this! 🐦‍⬛

We are so thrilled and humbled to be once again nominated in so many categories this year, with Crows being nominated for Best Performer in a Play, Best Supporting Performer in a Play, Best Ensemble, Best Director of A Play, and Favorite Local Theater in the Non-Professional Categories. Congrats to everyone who got nominated from our Rochester Community! We are biased of course, and think that Pomona and Mercury had the Best Ensemble casts in the entire history of Theater since ancient Greece. But like, we are just a bunch of silly birds. 🐦‍⬛
