Hello my friends!
It’s infusion day and I’m back with another life update. 💗
Earlier this week, I went to a theme park called Darien Lake. It’s just a normal amusement park where you walk around, ride rides, hit the waterpark, eat junk, and at the end of the night there was a concert because it was part of the annual Kingdom Bound celebration, which is a Christian event that happens every year at this park.
Sounds pretty average- but-… for me, this meant more. I spent the entire day essentially from 12pm till about 9pm walking the park and from 9pm-11pm attending the concert. This may seem like a “yeah and?” moment but just a few years ago, I remember a trip to the zoo where I had to rent a wheelchair and my kids pushed me around because I couldn’t physically handle a day of walking. Another time, my family went to PA to Hershey park and it was the same situation. I really wanted to walk, but I just couldn’t handle the entire day, so a wheelchair was rented… and even farther back, going to a state fair I think it was, and I used a walker the entire time, taking breaks whenever needed.
But on this day, I didn’t need a walker or a wheelchair. And tempted as I was to rent a scooter, I didn’t. And I was ABLE to walk the entire day and into the night, even carrying extra bags (which was torture by the way) to my van when it was time to go. I’m PROUD of myself, for coming this far. Even though I know this is completely out of my control, no matter what I do, what medicines I take, etc… it’s up to God really what my mobility will be like… but, I am still proud because I did it. Something as simple as that can really make me reflect and be grateful for everything I have.
What wins have you had lately? What is filling up your cup? I hope you are finding joy in the small insignificant moments and know how loved you are.
