Chateau Cultural Center, a vision EDG created and supported by unanimous city council and Mayor Norton lived a short life but had an abundance of members who supported the mission from Minnesota to Austria. With the settlement, EDG will host a thank you to everyone who supported them. Wishing the City, future operator and DMC-Mayo all the best with the Chateau, the “living room” of Rochester.

THE STORY OF THE HISTORIC CHATEAU THEATER

Located in the heart of Rochester, Minnesota, the Chateau Theater was built in 1927 and remains one of the most significant historic structures in the city. Over the years, this historic treasure has served as a theater, event center + bookstore, before it was vacated in 2015. Now, fast forward to 2019, when everything is about to change!

With the goal of resurrecting this important landmark and bringing art and culture to the Rochester community, Exhibits Development Group (EDG) will breathe new life into this regional jewel with the all-new Chateau.

Chateau is creating a new standard for cultural entertainment and education in the Rochester community and beyond. This vibrant cultural collective will feature traveling exhibitions, concerts, events, and a teaching café + retail experience. Chateau is a gathering place. A place where children will learn, friends will meet, and Mayo Clinic caregivers and visitors will relax. Chateau is a destination where creativity, inclusivity, and cultural happenings will intersect, resulting in powerful community engagement.
