We sadly didn't get a great in-person turnout to our screenings, thanks in part to people's concerns about infection rates rising (see meme below). We rely on a lot of our funding coming from ticket sales, so this hurt us quite a bit financially. If you didn't get a chance to see it, please consider purchasing the digital version or a DVD.

I've been able to extend the Vimeo option for one more day, so as long as you purchase by Tuesday August 24th you can stream or download it anytime in the next 30 days.

A local homeschool drama club cancelled their performance season for the second year in a row due to the pandemic. But, rather than give up all together, they adapted by making a film.

Last night's screening was a success! The response from our audience was very positive: folks said that the production quality was great, the acting was well-done, and some confessed that this was the first time they could understand Shakespeare. Huzzah!

But the most surprising review we received was from a six-year-old little girl who declared it to be her new favorite movie. We *were* recommending it for ages 10+ because of the bloodshed, but maybe we're targeting the wrong demographic. 😂

And please note that the film is fully captioned for everyone. Shakespeare can sometimes be a little difficult to understand (yea, verily) so a number of folks said they appreciated the captions being included. 🤗

From the director:

I wept when I took this photo this morning. This image represents the accumulation of a year's worth of work.

Our homeschool drama club, which was whittled down to only eleven cast members this year because of many reasons, filmed a feature-length adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar." We did this in lieu of a live performance because we had no idea what the pandemic restrictions were going to be at any given notice. We worked within the guidelines and filmed almost everything outside. We rescheduled filming dates for illness, or quarantining, or weather. It ended up taking us nine months to finish filming all the scenes, but it got done. Tack on another two months to do all of the editing, including captioning, and it's finally ready to be shown tomorrow night.

This is the biggest creative project I have ever undertaken. I am not a professional filmmaker or editor. I am just an incredibly stubborn mom and amateur director/videographer who didn't want to see these kids miss out on yet something else. And I'm grateful for all the people who caught my vision and helped out along the way.

Hard things are worth doing, if they're good things done for the right reasons.
