Hey friends! I'm still here but my Instagram posts went back to sharing to my personal account and I haven't been able to resolve it, and honestly my posts there have been really suppressed with low reach so I figured it's probably the same here so why make the effort πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I just wanted to share to redirect some new and existing followers if you have Instagram for consistent updates and new works. Thanks for the continued support! 😊

Hey friends! Just wanted to leave a note here regarding current projects and what I'm most focused on at the moment

If you don't know, my other other background is in horticulture and landscape design and I've mentioned a few times that I really need to carve out time to tackle our completely overgrown and unruly yard (second summer here) and while I've been slowly chipping away and planning I haven't really accomplished anything notable, and with this cooler weather and the discovery of invasive lanternflies in one of the major areas of overgrowth I'm finally going in with gusto 🌿

I'll still be posting and sharing the process because before feral craft this page was all nature dork content and I never wanted it to be about strictly trying to sell you stuff BUT that doesn't mean I'm not still gathering gorgeous materials like local flowers and mushrooms and preserving them for all of the ideas I have in mind when I can jump back into it

That said- I have some really great events lined up for fall leading up to the holidays which I will share eventually, but for now that's mostly on the back burner while I tackle this huge project of restoring this piece of land back to an ecological haven for all the little guys (besides lanternflies who are about to be annihilated) there are already so many butterflies, dragonflies, native bees, lightning bugs, mantises, moths, hummingbirds and more keeping my morale up so I can't wait to plant all the things they love

Wish me luck, and thanks for sticking around πŸ’š

I like touching bugz πŸͺ²

Here's one of a few European mantises I've come across while finally tackling the overgrown "nightmare zone" in our yard. I discovered the highly invasive spotted lantern flies earlier so maybe they can help me eradicate them. I'm going to make a separate post or maybe just a highlight but for now check my stories for info on how to identify them and what actions to take if you spot them. I had two of their host plants- the invasive tree of heaven in this area and I'm mad at myself for not knowing better and not immediately removing them but at least this lit a fire under my ass to finally deal with the whole area

Aw look who came back to visit πŸ₯Ή

Ok, I know that's not what happened but this little lyric cicada landed right next to me while I was planting stuff out back. I think she's laid her eggs and is nearing the end but she still had strength to fly off so maybe not quite yet- either way, appreciated the hello πŸ’š

So I'm outside photographing this while proclaiming it to be the the cutest arrangement I've ever made and I pick it up to take it back in and- drop it. Completely destroyed this perfect little 52 year old IO moth 😭

I think I may have another but they're so old and I've never worked with one with his little feets and antennae in such good shape so I'm super bummed, but the main reason for this piece was to use these little russula mushrooms I found yesterday that dehydrated nicely, arranged with a NYS herkimer diamond cluster and forest finds 🌿

Hoping to find another of the same moth but sharing this guy for now- sorry you were kept safe all these years until meeting my clumsy hands 😞

Found a P**P eater today- that's right- butterflies are actually gross, especially the white admiral shown here which are the only ones I've personally seen feasting on f***s. They do this for the sodium and mineral content not available from other food sources like flowers and from what I recall I think it's usually the males as it increases reproductive capacity and success- either way, had to share πŸ’©

Market Aesthetic 🌿

A cute little compact setup yesterday at - decided to forgo the extra hour drive to pickup my usual display items from my studio but I made it work. It's been awhile since I've seen a bunch of pieces together so here are some satisfying little details

Thanks again to everyone who came out to say hey and dork out about nature and of course to those who purchased something- you all understandably love the dandelion poofs so I'll get on making more arrangements with them soon, they're my favorite too

There are a bunch of left over items restocked inside the shop and I'll share my next market soon πŸ’š
