🦊 I almost didn’t even bring this one…
The night before Artist Row, I painted this fox in an autumn forest. It's something different for me - acrylic on repurposed wood. I wasn't confident in how it turned out. I was worried it lacked the level of detail I normally have in my painting. I almost just left it at home.
Mark said he liked it. He said, bring it anyway, just to see how it goes. So I did.
Early in the day, this absolutely delightful woman picked it up and chatted with me awhile about her love for foxes. Then she said needed to think about it, and walked away. A second woman came by and picked it up and told me a sweet story about what foxes mean to her, but also needed to think about it. I was surprised and happy that people were noticing and commenting about my little autumn fox. ✨
Then… the first woman came back and bought the piece! Being my embarrassing self, I had to try not to burst into tears, leaving this poor woman baffled - because she had no idea how much her choosing to buy this painting, that I didn’t have confidence in, meant to me. 😭🥰
And then something even more amazing happened - the second woman who had admired the painting ALSO came back! I couldn’t believe it. 😭🥰
I'm so glad I listened to my husband instead of that little voice that tells me I’m not good enough. 💚 These little moments mean so much and I am so grateful for people like these two women who liked my fox so much they wanted to give it a place in their home.
