I really took a step back this past few months at the Paint & Piddle shop, and didn't take many jobs on. With the boys being in sports, and working real full time jobs, I wasn't having very much fun with it. This is one of the jobs we did choose to take on, for our friend Joanna. Big thanks to Shawn at Madd Graphics for help with the stencils!

Sometimes, these that seem like they are going to be simple, are the hardest to pull off. Because I do all of my cursive freehand, this font was super tricky to get right! Same as yesterday, white on white till it's right. If you look closely at the second picture, you'll see what I mean.

Just finished! This one took some time.
Started with white on white, roughed it in. This is the way I've been teaching Willis to do it, and it really works. When I was happy with the letters, spacing, and the brave, I used reduced blue and black to simply trace out what I liked best about the white stage. After filling in the red and dark blue, a mixture of white (with just a tiny bit of yellow) gets brushed around to give this sign a vintage look. The idea in this technique is to really get progressively darker, so if you screw up, it's really easy to fix. Happy Painting!
p.s. Circles were made using a piece of string, pencil and thumbtack.

Good Morning, Paint & Piddle fans! Tanner here, happy to announce that I'm finished with Turnaround at the refinery, and I get to play with my paints again! Just got done buffing the hood for Tanner's truck. I've been working on this truck for a long long time. It's funny how our own stuff always gets but on the back burner but it's finally coming together.
