We are saddened to share the news that the second pillar of KMC Dance has passed away.
Kay Marie was a force of strength, determination and confidence all wrapped up in a little extra sparkle. She taught dance with passion, love and flair. She loved watching dancers blossom into their full potential and lit up when a dancer finally had that “ah-ha” moment. She taught us there was always a solution to an impossible situation if we could just challenge ourselves to see outside the box. She encouraged us to make great strides and achievements, but to stay humble at heart. She loved a theme! Our shows stand out each year because we learned that every detail in a show is an important one. She taught us to pour over each decision until we were confident that we had reached the best possible outcome. She always added a little Kay Marie flair to everything she did, and if you knew Kay, you know exactly what we mean. Kay Marie taught us how to stand our ground and stand by our beliefs and decisions as we navigated not only owning a small business, but also the decisions that we made in our personal lives. She taught and led with steadfast conviction in believing in yourself. Amongst all the life lessons that we have learned from Kay, we also have as many memories of endless laughter with her. She loved entertaining and storytelling and time spent at her house was never just a couple hours, it always turned into an all day occasion. We were blessed to be her students, her co-workers and then given the opportunity to carry on her legacy in our studios. Her memory will live on in every class that is taught whether it is the way we teach a step, a song that brings back her memory or anytime we think that a costume "just needs a little more sparkle.” Dance with the angels Kay, thank you for loving us and sharing the love of dance with us.
We will share any information about a memorial service as the family sees fit. Please keep Kay Marie’s family in your prayers as they work through their loss.
