One of the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum's current exhibitions, Edward Steffanni's "God-Shaped Hole," has been featured in the March-April edition of "Museum" magazine.

"Museum" is published by the American Alliance of Museums, the premier professional organization for museums in the U.S. with over 3,000 member institutions and over 35,000 professional members, Eleanor D. Wilson Museum Director Jess Ambler said.

Steffanni, who served last year as visiting assistant professor of printmaking at Hollins, explores the connections between the q***r body, spirituality, and nature through ceramics, printmaking, and performance. "God-Shaped Hole" draws parallels between the obscuring of sexual orientation and hunting in nature.

🌱NEW EXHIBITION OPEN TODAY🌱 We're delighted to present "Leigh Ann Beavers: We Had All This," on view through December 7. Watch for announcements about an artist talk and hands-on workshop in late September!
For decades, artist Leigh Ann Beavers has straddled the worlds of natural history and visual art. She depends on close observation and the repetition of looking and drawing to better understand her environs. Having lived in western Virginia much of her life, Beavers notices and keenly feels the diminishing and disappearance of the unseen and undervalued life on the edges of yards, fields, and roadsides. Her most recent body of work continues her artistic exploration of ecological concerns and the valley’s changing landscape.
"Leigh Ann Beavers: We Had All This" and its related programs are sponsored in part by the City of Roanoke through the Roanoke Arts Commission.
