Art in Roanoke Ka-pow!! Through the power of the arts, we’re creating every day the place we want to be. Join us!

The mission of the Roanoke Arts Commission (RAC), as established in 1983, is to “advise and assist Roanoke City Council on matters relating to the advancement of the arts and humanities within the city” to establish Roanoke as a vibrant, prosperous community where arts and culture engage people in all aspects of life. The RAC does this by:

•Advocating for arts initiatives and cultural investmen

•Increasing the collective impact of the arts and culture community.
•Managing and informing the City’s Public Art Plan.
•Advancing the City’s Arts and Cultural Plan.
•Guiding City investments in arts and culture.

Roanoke is a 2026 All-America City finalist because of projects like Arts Connect Neighbors!

A first-of-its-kind program, Arts Connect brings free, community-building art programs directly to neighborhoods. The catalog of nearly 70 activities includes performances, workshops and creative activities that neighborhood groups and organizations can choose from.

More than 150 events have been held in Roanoke’s neighborhoods, helping to build community for the more than 6,000 participants. The National Civic League’s All-America City Award celebrates cities that drive meaningful change through programs like this!

The 2026 Daisy Art Parade and Carnival was a blast! Thank you to everyone who came out 🎉🌼

It was a joy to see Rivers Edge Park filled with creativity, colorful artworks, music, and joy. From parade participants and artists to volunteers, families, and community partners, Roanoke showed up in a big way!

The arts bring us together, and this celebration was a beautiful reminder of the creativity that lives across our community. 💛

On Saturday, May 9, Roanokers filled Rivers Edge Park with creativity, music, and joy. Thank you to all the parade participants, artists, neighborhood leaders, volunteers, families, and community partners who made this day of connection and fun possible!
