Over a series of six weeks–mentored by local performer and producer, Bebe Demure–these students studied the art of the tease and the fundamentals of becoming a burlesque performer to create a captivating premiere presentation. That’s 12 Brews & Burlesque shows since 2022!

As the founder + owner of a small, independent variety performing arts production company in SW VA, I am so grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to share amazing talent, high-caliber performances, and unique experiences with you over the years. This work is offbeat and difficult, and I’m proud of the growth we’ve achieved as a company, series, and a community to keep bringing burlesque and variety arts to Roanoke.

I’m almost speechless.

I created Dusk/Dawn Productions at a time in my life when I thought I was done with the fight against the world. Honestly, much of what I created and did at the time was out of spite. I was tired of being seen as the “girl who played nice” to keep the peace and out of obedience just to always quietly cry about injustices and unfair treatment I endured and was witness to.

With my balled up spite, I sent in the official business filing for Dusk/Dawn Productions. I could’ve let the spite show, but what I really did was I showed up for myself and became the leader that I needed, made the changes I felt were necessary, and booked the art I wanted to see in my city. One day, I looked around and I saw the community that I dreamt of building in the space surrounding me.

I’m so grateful for this nomination, recognition, the lessons, the growth, the healing, and the community that made that all possible! Like I said–I started this out as a solo endeavor. Now, I have a loving partner (that I found through this company!), a local group of performers to work with that is growing, a business partnership with a venue that has become home, dedicated DJs and a talented photographer, volunteers, a loyal fan base, and a curious community just waiting to find out what happens at Dusk/Dawn Productions shows…😘✨
