Real life hit hard for a minute, and things got a little quieter around here than we planned.

Sometimes that’s just how it goes. The work matters, the mission matters, but being human still comes first, and the last stretch asked a lot. So if you noticed we slowed down some, that’s why.

We’re getting our feet back under us and working to get back into full rhythm, so keep your eyes peeled. There’s more coming soon.

In the meantime, let this be your reminder that slowing down does not mean you failed. Catching your breath is not the same thing as giving up. Take care of yourself, take care of your people, and give yourself a little grace if the last few weeks have been heavier than expected.

If you’re in crisis in the U.S. or Canada, call or text 988.

Let us know if you’re still with us and drop a song we need to hear!

5/29 - 6/5

Another 13 tracks just got folded into the pile, and the whole thing keeps getting bigger without losing its teeth.

This round moves through metalcore, progressive sludge, hard rock, EDM, deathcore, post-hardcore, easycore, symphonic metal, and lo-fi gritwave, which means the playlist is still refusing to sit in one lane for long. Some of these songs are built to shove a room forward. Some feel more like tension with a pulse.
That’s the part that matters.

DIY doesn’t ask everything to sound the same. That’s how a playlist turns into a document of a scene instead of just a dump of links.

At this point, the DIY New Release Playlist is up to 140 songs and 8 hours 42 minutes of proof that bands are still building, still risking, and still showing up with something to say.

CRANK THIS → Find the one that shakes loose the dead air
SAVE THIS → Keep track of who’s still doing the work
ARM THE UNDERGROUND → Stay with the artists still making this thing feel alive

Field Test Suggestions (fresh batch):
→ Letting the wrong song for the moment become the perfect one
→ Hitting repeat before you’ve even decided if you like it yet
→ Finding the track that makes everything before it sound too safe

Back the bands. Don’t just stream - follow, share, show up. That’s how DIY stays alive.
💙 Heavy music isn’t noise - it’s medicine. Find the song that holds the line.

Actus Reus

DIY NEW RELEASE UPDATE
5/15 - 5/23

Another twelve just hit the stack, and this batch bends in a few different directions at once.

This DIY New Release run cuts through rap rock, rock, metal, metalcore, hardcore, nu-core, classical metal, emo punk, funk rock, post-hardcore, and prog rock, which means the mood swings are built in. Some of these tracks want motion. Some want pressure. Some want swagger, some want collapse, and some feel like they showed up specifically to make your speakers work harder than they planned to.

The DIY New Release Playlist isn’t here to force all of that into one lane. It’s here to keep tabs on who’s still making the kind of music that leaves a mark.

CRANK THIS → Find the one that throws the room off center
SAVE THIS → Keep up with the names still pushing forward
ARM THE UNDERGROUND → Back the artists still showing up with something real

Field Test Suggestions (fresh batch):
→ Catching yourself rewinding the same 30 seconds three times
→ Letting a new track talk you into staying up longer than you should
→ Finding the song that makes the rest of the playlist rearrange itself

Back the bands. Don’t just stream - follow, share, show up. That’s how DIY stays alive.
💙 Heavy music isn’t noise - it’s medicine. Find the song that holds the line.

4/17 - 5/6

Not every update arrives in a clean wave. Sometimes the songs just start piling up until you look around and realize the stack got serious.

This DIY New Release batch runs from 4/17 to 5/6 and pulls in 12 releases. Sonically, it’s all over the place in the best way - hard rock, alternative rock, rock, metal, symphonic/goth metal, metalcore, indie rock, soundtrack, mathcore, and deathcore all landing in the same stretch. That kind of spread is the point. The underground never survives by sounding like one thing.

Some of these feel built for open-road volume. Some feel like they belong in a dark room with the speakers up and your phone face down. Some hit like a push forward, and some hit like a warning sign you ignore on purpose.

The DIY New Release Playlist keeps growing because people keep making work worth tracking. Just a running archive of bands and artists still putting something real into circulation.

CRANK THIS → Find the one that knocks the dust out of your head
SAVE THIS → Keep track of who’s still building
ARM THE UNDERGROUND → Back the names still making the map interesting

Field Test Suggestions (fresh batch):
→ Letting a left-turn track reset your ears
→ Finding the song that changes the shape of the drive
→ Putting something new on before the old mood settles back in

Back the bands. Don’t just stream - follow, share, show up. That’s how DIY stays alive.
