December 4th, 2017

Thank you to all who attended!!!

**If I missed anything of important nature please let me know in the comments and can address the topic!

We started the meeting around 6:30 and had about roughly 40 people in attendance including some city council members and the Mayor.

We opened up by running through a crash course of the last meeting and our ultimate goals and how we would work toards achieving them.

The first topic discussed was the survey that we had released via Goggle Docs. We went over some of the answers we got and eliminated a couple of options for reasons of maintenance and options in town.

After discussing on that for a bit of time, we moved back to the ideas of a multi complex facility between Riverton and Lander, eventually possibly even Dubois. The team from Mission Possible were in attendance and one of the board members came up and gave a very informative breakdown of the lander facility which is in the works of being open come spring of 2018. We talked on options for making both facilities work such as a transportation option, offering different activities, hosting events, and so on. Jim Donahue, the president of Mission Possible, took to the floor and gave some details on how we can make this possible via Grants, volunteer hours, and other options we could use to make this possible. The joining of Riverton and Lander, ignoring the thoughts of two separate and independent towns and changing it to that of a single county. With no resistance the people at the meeting all agreed this is the best route to take. T

With that being said we decided to put together a board of representatives for Riverton to join the Mission Possible team in making this a reality.

The board will be determined by the end of this month and names will be released in the first weeks of January.

Our next step is to gather a bit more data and present that in January with hopes we can determine what we want by that date and start applying for grants faster and make this happen. We want to make these happen together not build one and then start the next. If we can manage to come January know what we want and have a relatively solid idea of where to put it then we can start applying for grants and moving the further phases we are going to be taking.

I would invite everyone to go to the Fremont Regional Sports & Recreation Complex and like and follow there as well.

I will be keeping this page active for the time being to keep posting updates and activities going on, but will change the name shortly.

Here is to you Fremont County and the improvements we are striving for!

Our next communication is January 22h located at City Hall, starting at 6:30.

This is a rough out line of our first meeting. We will have someone taking notes at the next meeting to start keeping minutes and agendas.

Meeting 1 Riverton Recreation Center.
November 6, 2017

Starting time: 6:35

We had about 35 in attendance, and I being nervous as I was just kind of jumped right into it. Without introduction, sorry about that to those in attendance.

I opened by covering a little bit of some notes I had gathered to get a discussion going. We started with an overview. We have a desire and need for it so why aren't we doing it. I discussed some of the different ways we could go about retention and creating a cash flow. While I didn't get to touch on everything I anticipated we had some discussion on the grants that would work and how we could work with the community in so many different ways. We also acknowledged the central position of Riverton and the benefits of other towns in close proximity.

At this time I introduced Jim Donahue with Mission Possible. They are in the works of getting a sports center built and I wanted to give him a chance to speak. He spoke of their progress, the things they've Incorporated and his desire to try and work together to make a facility. While they have a location and bid on some property they are getting close to starting fundraising and the process of accumulating money to start the build. We discussed different routes of trying to make the two both work such as two smaller facilities with a bus transport between the two. There was the argument of why Riverton is an ideal location as opposed to lander. After some debate Jim bid his farewell and we resumed discussing a Riverton Recreation center.

The main goal was to start the discussion and see what Riverton wants and needs demographically as far as activities and entertainment. It was brought up the use of current facilities with access and their usage. Was it justifiable can we get enough participation to make it work. We decided we will do some test runs and work with local facilities to see there hours of operation and volume of participation. We also talked on the topic of funding briefly. Through grants and fundraising it seems possible especially if we are working with local to leagues to inquire more access to grants. The idea of a 1% tax was discussed but deemed may be a tough route to take. The idea of a pro rated tax to allot a certain amount to each town was also considered. We also talked on some location possibilities and what we would need from them. Being it was the early phase we decided to stick to figuring out what it is Riverton has and needs, as well as how can we work with lander and surrounding areas to make it work.

We ended on the idea of getting a ballot put together see what is desired by the public. We will be distributing these in the next hour on Facebook as well as paper copies at local businesses and schools.

We will have another meeting December 4th at 6:30 in Riverton at the city hall. At that time we are going to try and get R Rec, Idea inc., all local sports team coaches and board members possible, and any/all local organizations as well to attend and start discussing on a larger scale.

I will post the notes I brought to the meeting tonight also.

The next meeting we will report on the data acquired through this survey as well as looking into more of for Riverton and Lander to work together.

We invite anyone to attend our meetings as they are open to public for the public.

** If anyone that was in attendance can think of anything I missed feel free to add in the comments.
