DOBERMAN #5 3D Shadowbox Paper Sculpture
Based on original art by Bernard Chang
Published by Darby Pop Publishing 2015
This 3D was commissioned by Jeffery Kline, Founder of the independent Darby Pop Publishing in 2015 for his personal collectiion. It was based on original art by Bernard Chang who I later met at numerous local SoCal comic cons. He never saw the actual 3D, just photos of it. Upon attending the Oct 2015 SoCal Comic Con in Carlsbad, CA, I found Darby Pop had a booth and showed the 3D to Renae who was manning the both.

BTS BUS STOP 3D Shadowbox Paper Sculpture 2026

Now it can be shown!
A few months ago my repeat client and friend Chris Matthes commissioned me to make 2 BTS related 3Ds. They were a surprise for his wife Kristy who loves their music. They attended the BTS concert in Las Vegas in May. They are from OK.

The 3D shown is of their famous Bus Stop picture. The other is of their logo. After setting up my 3Ds on display at the recent SDCCI Art Show, they showed up for the big surpirse which she greatly appreciated. Chris previously surprised her with a Simpsons 3D a few years ago. They have about 10 of my 3Ds in their collection.

Photos and paintings are generally harder to do in 3D since I have to cut along color separations, not lines. The photo took about 2 months, the logo 1 week.

Just set up my annual SDCC Art Show display at the Hyatt Hotel ballroom with 20 3Ds. Friends Chris & Kristy Matthes from OK came by surprising Kristy with 2 BTS 3Ds for her. She is really into that singing group. Chris commissioned me to make 3Ds of their Bus Stop photo & Logo which were part of my display.

STAR WARS 3D Shadowbox Paper Sculpture

A few months ago I was contacted by Gabriel Kardos, a Canadian living in Hungary, interested in having several 3Ds made from Hungarian Star Wars Comic Books for his museum I think.
He sent me 4 copies of each of the 2 books to be used.

Each of the main characters in the were done as separate modules. The bop Death Star area has a lot of small details. The whole 3D was very complex to work on given everything that overlapped one another.

This is the first of 2 I agreed to meake. The seoncd one is almost finished, but not ready to show. I will be carrying this 3D around SDCC this weekend to show people. Both should be finished after SDCC and will be sent to his mother's home in Canada where he will be visiting instead of shipping them to Hungary.

SPIDER-MAN Playing Card 3D Shadowbox

Based on the hero published by Marvel Comics
In preparation for the upcoming San Diego Comic Con Intl, I decided to make this small 3D from a playing card deck to carry around
The 3D effect was built up using a mix of actual playing cards and color laser prints on heavy paper wat was easier to cut. It was made to fit inside the lucite deck holder.
It will be available to purchase should anyone be itnerested.

BARRY ALLEN CHANGES INTO THE FLASH 3D Shadowbox Paper Sculpture 2018

Based on the character published by DC Comics
Liking what Ron had drawn and posted on the internet, I challenged myself to make a 3D of it in 2018. It has been on display at previous San Diego Comic Con Art Show and will be again next week. It is still unframed & will be available as a Silent Auction Item. sted.
