Save the date! Come see our new exhibition Dispatches: The Photography of Douglas McCulloh opening September 12!

Join us as we celebrate this exhibition at our Fall Reception on Saturday, October 10, 6-8 p.m. Free and open to the public. RSVPs encouraged.

Exhibitions on view: Dispatches: The Photography of Douglas McCulloh, 1990–2025, the first-ever retrospective of McCulloh’s nearly four-decade career, A Solid Sense of Who You Are: Selections from the Museum Collection, pulled from McCulloh’s own essays, interests, and friendships, The Great Picture: Revisiting the Legacy Project, the project that set the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest print photograph, Won Ju Lim: The Vast Structure of Recollection, installations that turn the experience of memory into something you can physically walk through, and Heather Cleary: Thresholds, one striking photograph brought to life with miniature clay figures.

Before the widespread use of cameras, how did the public know what politicians looked like? Curatorial Assistant Anna Gaissert explains how newspaper printers disseminated the likeness of American politicians in the 19th century.

Thanks to Gary W. Ewer for the loan of the Brother Jonathan newspaper with an early printed version of the Declaration of Independence for UCR ARTS Celebrates America 250.

Do you love art and photography? Are you passionate about sharing it with others? Apply to be a docent at UCR ARTS!

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lead interactive tours for K-12 students, college classes, and adult groups. As a docent, you'll help visitors connect with photography and contemporary art in meaningful ways – an art degree is not required! Just bring your curiosity, communication skills, and a willingness to learn.

Perks include:
-Behind the scenes access to the museum world.
-Free film tickets at the Culver Cinema
-Ongoing training and learning opportunities
