She came to me with a very specific vision for her backpiece — from the individual artwork she wanted incorporated, to the library and the overall style of the piece. We brought everything together while keeping that loose, architectural underdrawing feel with structural geometric elements, soft shading, and minimal, strategically placed darks.

Such a fun piece to build and watch come together.

As someone who tattoos for a living and spends a lot of time getting tattooed, I’ve learned that I’m a much better client when I’m comfortable.

Comfy clothes, warm socks, snack breaks, p*e breaks, and yes… occasionally numbing cream.

At this point, I’m not trying to prove how tough I am. I’m just trying to sit well, trust my artist, and get the best tattoo possible.

Also, I’d like to formally report that the numbing cream in this video did absolutely nothing. There will be a lawsuit.

My client brought me a photo of her father wearing his traditional Colombian carriel bag, a piece of his heritage and a memory she’s carried with her for years. We recreated that bag in just 3 inches, turning a treasured photograph into something she can keep with her every day.
