📣 Returning Client for the 2026 fall marching season: Westside High School📣

DTMA is excited to work with Westside High School and their band program for ALL drill and song arrangements for their 2026 marching show. This will be the second year working with this young band, and let me tell you from personal experience they knock it out of the park! The director and students are motivated, energetic, passionate about the marching arts, and just a true joy to work with. I cannot wait to see how they grow again this year!!

All movements of their show, both musically and visually, will be provided by Doug Torres through DTMA. This show will be crafted with purpose and shaped by their ensemble - as is our motto at DTMA. Flexible movements that work to showcase the raw talent and creativity that is within the Westside High School Band program. They truly inspire me to keep doing what I’m doing!!💚

🎲🏮 Band Directors… ready to roll for initiative? 🏮🎲

Imagine a concert band piece where the story unfolds like a tabletop adventure, the ensemble becomes the party of heroes, and the roll of a 20-sided die helps shape what happens next.

I am excited to officially open the consortium for my newest concert band work, The Lantern's Last Roll - an interactive fantasy journey filled with mystery, tension, and heroic moments.

Deep in the village of Windale, the sacred Lantern of Elders - the light that has protected the town for generations - has gone dark. Shadows creep through the streets, and hope grows dim. One hero and his band of bards (that's your ensemble) must take up the final lantern and venture into the unknown to restore its light. But in this story... fate is decided by the roll of the dice.

At three key moments, a live D20 roll determines what happens next in the hero's journey. Will they slip past lurking shadows? Survive a crumbling bridge? Defeat the ancient sentinel guarding the lantern?

Each roll triggers a different musical outcome for the ensemble, meaning every performance unfolds a little differently. The band becomes the storyteller, the audience becomes part of the adventure, and the music reacts in real time to the choices of chance.

Participating ensembles in the consortium will receive:
- Early Access to the full score and parts
- A narrator script to bring the story to life
- A D20 die, dice cue charts and conductor guide for smooth performance flow
- Recognition in the published score as part of the consortium campaign
- Marketing materials to help promote the interactive concert experience
- And More!

I am writing this piece (almost finished with it) to combine storytelling, imagination, and audience engagement with exciting and meaningful wind band writing. It's perfect for concerts where you want the audience leaning forward in their seats wondering what will happen next.

Before you know it, marching season is almost here! Sitting at home during the cold and snowy season trying to figure out what your ensemble is playing this year? No time like a holiday break to get back to work! I just finished planning this piece, and I can say that it’s definitely the most original and unique piece for wind ensemble I have ever worked on. The story is outlined, the dice are ready, and it is ready to get started! Combining two of my favorite things (concert band and D&D), this will be a piece anyone can enjoy. The Lantern’s Last Roll will be something you will not want to miss out on.

The Lantern’s Last Roll plunges listeners into a world where shadows breathe, corridors twist, and fate hangs by a dim and wavering flame. Conceived as a dark fantasy for wind ensemble, the piece follows a solitary adventurer whose lantern—cracked, sputtering, and nearly spent—is the only shield against the encroaching unknown. Whether salvation or doom awaits is never fully revealed; instead, the music offers a single truth: even the faintest light fights fiercely against the dark.

Yes, there are dice you have to roll WHILE performing the piece. Yes, the outcome that you hear will depend on what is rolled mid-performance. Yes, there will be a narrator/dungeon master. I am beyond thrilled to get this project rolling. Coming soon to a concert hall near you. This will be a piece that all band lovers and D&D fans alike will love!
