Rio Vista to Host FREE Wild West Watercross Championship Event

Get ready for an exciting weekend on the waterfront as Rio Vista hosts the Wild West Watercross Championship Tour, June 26–28, 2026. Best of all, admission is completely FREE for spectators.

Approximately 120 racers and their families are expected to travel to Rio Vista for three days of high-energy jet ski competition on the Sacramento River. As part of the SBT Wild West Watercross “Road to Sparks” Championship Tour, competitors of all ages will race for valuable championship points in a professionally designed closed-course event in the heart of downtown Rio Vista.

The event is expected to bring hundreds of visitors to Rio Vista, creating an opportunity for residents and guests to explore local shops, restaurants, and the city’s beautiful waterfront.

The Montezuma Fire Department will be grilling tri-tip for lunch on all three days. Chef Michael Torres will have his Brazilian food truck available throughout the weekend, and Love Lumpia will also be present. Additionally, the Pizza Factory will be selling pizza by the slice for the three days. On Saturday morning, the Rio Vista Lions Club will host a pancake breakfast exclusively for the racers.

The fun continues off the water with live entertainment throughout downtown:
• Hap’s Taps – Friday: Terminous, 8:00 p.m. start time. Saturday: Jane Blonde and the Goldfingers, 7:00–10:00 p.m.
• Ben’s Friends of the Vine – Friday, 5:00–8:00 p.m.: The Experiment with RJae. Saturday, 3:00–5:00 p.m.: Main Street Mix; 5:30–8:30 p.m.: Bob Kinney and The Livin’ Daylights.
• Lucy’s Café – Friday, 7:00–9:00 p.m.: Groovy Judy. Saturday, 7:00–10:00 p.m.: The Grinders.

Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to come experience this first-ever event on the Rio Vista waterfront. There will be bleachers located at the end of Main Street, that will seat up to 250 people. Dock start and finish line is at the city dock. Bring your family, cheer on the racers, enjoy great food and live music, and discover everything downtown Rio Vista has to offer.

Coast Guard Auxiliary Offers the “Boat America Safety Class.”

Napa, CA: The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will present “Boat America,” a boating certificate class scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 5:30 – 9:30 PM, Part 1 and Wednesday, April 8, 5:30 – 9:30 PM, Part 2. Total of 8 hours of instruction. Students must attend Part 1 and Part 2. Hosted and taught by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Certified Instructors.

Learn basic boating, boating laws, navigation, emergency procedures, communications, trailering, storing, and protecting your boat. Discover how to remain safe during water-skiing, PWC operation, and other boating tips.

Successful completion meets the requirements for a California Boating Card. As of January 1, 2025, the California Boating Card is required for all motorized vessel operators, regardless of age.
