DANCE INSTRUCTOR INTERNS WANTED!
AVANT GARDEN BALLROOM ACADEMY is now located in Rio Rancho! Our Sunny New Home Studio is located in a convenient and beautiful location just north of Intel, and we are accepting applications for NEW INTERNS!
Avant Garden has been owned and operated since 2006, by Audra Billet, who has more than 29 years of experience as a dancer, performer, and teacher in over 12 different dances, including Ballroom, Latin, and Swing. One of the hallmarks of the studio, is its focus on fun social dancing with a careful attention to the proper technique that will make you a wonderful leader or follower. We offer lots of beginner, children, and family classes, and we love to stay involved with Swing and Salsa Events around the Albuquerque Area. We also do whatever we can to donate our time to local charities or neighborhood events.
This FREE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM has been running for over 10 years, and it is the heartbeat of our studio. If you meet the scheduling requirements, and are invited to join the team, you will learn how to dance and teach Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Waltz, Fox-trot, Tango, and some basic Country-Western.
Candidates must have a minimum availability of Sundays from noon-2pm for Weekly Training, and Wednesdays from 8pm-10pm for our Weekly Salsa Night Event. If you become proficient as a teacher in at least 5 of our major dances, you may be offered a position as a part-time paid dance instructor or assistant instructor. The pay for an instructor ranges from $15-$30/hour depending on your role, and the assignment.
Please note that even if you have experience as a social dancer or training in one or two dances, you will still need to train in several more dances, master the technique, and be able to teach both parts, smoothly and efficiently, before you will be allowed to teach on your own. How fast you learn, and how quickly you can advance to a paid instructor, is completely dependent on your commitment to learn and practice. We have had interns who became full instructors within 3 months, and some who were still not ready after a year of training. Our standards are some of the highest in New Mexico, and you will receive an invaluable amount of training if you are committed to the team. This is the only dance instructor internship that exists in the state, and is a tremendous opportunity for someone who wants to start working in the arts!
If you are interested, please start with a text with a little bit of info about yourself. We will get back to you as soon as we can depending on the number of inquiries.
