This One Glows. 🔥
Last Friday night during the Amarillo Art Walk, I had the privilege of doing a live pastel demonstration for the Lone Star Pastel Society Annual Show (February 6, 2026). There’s something energizing about painting in front of a crowd — decisions have to be bold, colors have to be confident, and there’s no overthinking.
The result is this 16x20 framed pastel of a Golden Autumn Aspen forest — a strong foreground aspen standing tall against a grove of shimmering gold, all set against that unmistakable turquoise blue sky. The contrast of warm yellows against cool blue makes the entire painting vibrate with light.
If you’ve followed my work for any length of time, you know these autumn aspens tend to find homes quickly. Collectors respond to the color, the strength of design, and the sense of Southwest light.
